Not long after the Conquest, nearly 1000 years ago, Burford received a charter from a chap called Robert Fitzhamon, and in grateful thanks adopted his emblem which has been the town's 'Ramping Cat' ever since. Not surprisingly, there have been many iterations, and here is a romp with the Ramping Cat through the ages... Culminating with his relationship with Burford School.
